Capabilities & Products Featured in our MAPCON 2024 Demonstrations

Low Phase Noise Generation & Analysis

Today’s communication systems utilize high order modulation to achieve high data throughput, which requires faster clock rates that can increase symbol errors. A potential source of these errors is phase noise from the existing local oscillator (LO). This demonstration features the HS9000 Series multi-channel RF synthesizer with the ultra-low phase noise option as an ideal LO substitute, and the HA7062C series for real-time phase noise analysis.

Fast Switching RF Signal Generator

When choosing a signal generator, low phase noise improves signal clarity, accuracy, and target detection while frequency agility avoids potential interference and ensues the ability to adapt in real-time, dynamic environments. The MAPCON 2024 demonstration shows the speed at which the SGX1000 RF Signal Generator can switch, in this case in amplitude using SGX1000’s list sweep.

Advanced Channel Emulation for Satellite Communications

The demonstration from Maury Microwave will showcase the leading-edge capabilities of the ACE9600 Advanced Channel Emulator, a non-terrestrial RF channel emulation solution that simulates link and hardware-based impairments on a signal’s path.

InsightProTM Noise Figure/ Parameter Characterization Software

The MAPCON 2024 demonstration features the cutting-edge capabilities of InsightPro – a noise figure/parameter characterization software suite from Maury Microwave. Leveraging accurate noise parameter extraction with Maury Microwave automated impedance tuners, the software offers users a guided experience through every stage, from system setup and calibration to verification and result analysis.

Programmable AWGN Generator & RF Power Measurement

The demonstration first monitors the 5G/Wi-Fi-like output from a signal source with a RTP5000 Series Real-Time USB Peak Power Sensor. The signal is then fed into the UFX7000B Programmable AWGN Generator, which enables manipulation of the carrier signal and noise floor in 0.1 dB steps over a 127 dB dynamic range. An RTP5000 sensor is the receiver that captures the UFX7000B signal + noise output and measures the SNR and C/N power envelope in real time. The PMX40 enables multiple measurements between user-controlled markers and provides a benchtop experience that incorporates touchscreen operation with USB sensor flexibility.

MTUNE3 Impedance Tuner Characterization Software

An impedance tuner is used to present controlled impedances to a device under test (DUT). When used on the output of a DUT, the set of measurements is commonly referred to as load pull. When used on the input of a DUT, the set of measurements is commonly referred to as source pull. By varying the impedance, it is possible to fully characterize the performance of a DUT. A demonstration at MAPCON 2024 highlights the capabilities of the MTUNE3 tuner calibration and control software, facilitating fundamental, harmonic, non-harmonically related multi-frequency, and frequency-interpolated impedance tuning.
