Hybrid-Active Harmonic Load Pull, Large Signal Analysis and EPHD Behavioral Modeling with R&S ZNA

ABSTRACT: Dr Jonas Urbonas provides an overview of hybrid-active harmonic load pull measurements using a 4-port 4-source R&S ZNA, and an extension of the ZNA with large-signal time-domain analysis and EPHD behavioral model extraction. He starts with explaining the motivation and challenges related to harmonic load pull, proceeds to introduce a turnkey solution to solve these challenges, and then provides a quick demonstration of hybrid-active harmonic load pull, using active tuning to hold the 2nd and 3rd harmonic load impedances at their ideal match condition, and sweeping the fundamental impedance, while performing a gain compression power sweep. He then shows time-domain voltage and current waveforms and load lines, and EPHD behavioral model extraction from the harmonic load pull measurement data.
